When Sadiq Khan ran to be Labour’s Mayor of London in 2016, he pledged to freeze all Transport for London fares, and that’s what he has done for three years in a row. Not only that, but he introduced the Night Tube, the unlimited Hopper Fare, the T-charge to tackle air pollution, and he’s worked with TfL staff to ensure they are getting a fair deal, reducing tube strike days by 65%.

On the 2nd January as Londoners returned to work, Labour Party members were out across London to spread the message of what public transport can be when it’s in Labour’s hands.

Meanwhile, rail fares nationally have soared under the Conservative government, who don’t seem to realise that rail is a vital public service, and that privatisation has been a costly failure. It’s failed passengers, tax payers, our economy & our environment. It mustn’t be run for the needs of the few shareholders. A Labour Government will take it back into public ownership. It will be cheaper, cleaner & more efficient.

Seeing what Sadiq has done here in London over just a few years – imagine what a Labour Government could do for the country?
