Today I met with cleaners at St George’s Hospital. The private company, Mitie, has been given a 10 year contract to manage the cleaning. They now want to cut cleaners hours & slash jobs.

Staff explained to me how the cuts will make it harder to maintain hygiene standards. The GMB are currently balloting for strike action. I have pledged my support & solidarity to the cleaners.
